Christmas Craft Fair
A Tree of Hope for visitors to attach a ribbon naming a loved one will be a centrepiece of the first ever Cancer Focus Northern Ireland Christmas Fair.
The fair will be held at the Cancer Focus (the new name for the Ulster Cancer Foundation) headquarters at 40-44 Eglantine Avenue, Belfast, on Saturday, 17th November, from 10am – 3pm.
Visitors can browse more than 20 stalls displaying a wide variety of goodies ideal for Christmas. These include jewellery, textiles, knitted and crocheted items, jams and chutneys, cakes, photographs, household goods, pictures, Christmas decorations, plants and Christmas wreaths.
Cancer Focus’s art therapist Joanne Robinson will be painting children’s faces, and refreshments including tasty non-alcoholic punch will be available.
Deirdre Conlon, Cancer Focus, said, “We are really excited about our Christmas Craft Fair – it is the first one we have ever organised and hope everyone will come along and support us – as well as picking up a few novel items for their Christmas stockings.
“As well as all the usual seasonal offerings, we will also be raffling a beautiful handmade quilt which was made by Mersey Street Presbyterian Church and Ballyhalbert sewing groups, which is a real gem.
“We are selling Christmas cards and a 2013 calendar featuring men (some cheekier than others!) from Mid-Ulster alongside monthly health messages to keep all our men on a healthy track in the new year. And we have a new booklet called ‘A Guide to Looking Your Best’, which gives cancer patients simple, practical tips on how to look after their body, skin, nails and hair both during and after treatment for cancer.
“The fair will be a fun day out with something for everyone. We’d love to see you there.”
Funds raise from the event will help provide free services for cancer patients and their families in Northern Ireland including bra-fitting, counselling, helpline (0800 783 3339), art and creative writing therapy, yoga, Zest for Life and Beauty for Life.
