Cancer Focus NI responds to restored power-sharing
Following today’s announcement that power-sharing will be restored in Northern Ireland, Cancer Focus NI Chief Executive Richard Spratt comments:
“The end of Northern Ireland’s political stalemate will be welcomed by cancer patients. Far too many people have waited for far too long: when facing a cancer diagnosis, time is a luxury few can afford. We need to see the institutions restored at pace, and a Health Minister in post within days. We must also see the agreement of a robust health budget fit to reduce cancer waiting times, to implement the cancer strategy and to activate the cancer screening and prevention programmes the people of Northern Ireland need. Speed is of the essence. Cancer patients should not be kept waiting any longer.”
