Semichem announces new charity partnership with Cancer Focus Northern Ireland

High street retailer, Semichem, has announced a new, year-long charity partnership with Cancer Focus NI, an organisation dedicated to supporting local people on their cancer journey through the delivery of cancer support services, health improvement initiatives, investment in research, and bringing about policy change.

This partnership highlights the shared commitment of both Semichem and Cancer Focus NI to making a meaningful difference in their communities. Over the next 12 months, the two organisations will work hand-in-hand to raise awareness, fundraise, signpost and offer tangible support to individuals and their families affected by cancer, throughout Northern Ireland.

As part of this collaboration, staff and volunteers from Cancer Focus NI will be visiting Semichem stores, engaging directly with customers to raise awareness and funds. These in-store ‘pop-up’ events will offer customers the opportunity to learn more about the resources available to them and how they can contribute to the cause.

As part of the Scotmid family of businesses, Semichem has helped raise an impressive £3.25 million across its last ten charity partnerships. This significant contribution is made possible through the hard work and dedication of staff, members, and customers, who participate in numerous fundraising activities and campaigns.

Beyond fundraising, a key focus of this partnership will be to educate communities about the diverse support services that Cancer Focus NI offers to those living with cancer. From emotional support to practical advice, Cancer Focus NI provides a lifeline to individuals and families during some of their most challenging times.

Richard Spratt, Chief Executive of Cancer Focus, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “This partnership comes at an exciting time for our charity as we progress with opening our very first Therapeutic Cancer Support Centre in early 2025, with more planned in the coming years throughout Northern Ireland. In advance of an exciting year, I would like to thank everyone at Semichem for their generosity.

“Together, we can be there for the 37 people who are told that they have cancer each day in Northern Ireland. Is it only because of innovative fundraising and awareness partnerships such as this that a cancer journey does not have to be a lonely and worrying experience.”

Karen Scott, Chief Executive at Scotmid, said: “Supporting our communities is at the heart of everything we do. We are excited to partner with Cancer Focus NI to raise both awareness and vital funds for a cause that touches so many lives. The money we raise will help ensure that more people can access the care and support they need. We look forward to making a difference together.”
