BT Digital announce Cancer Focus Northern Ireland as their new charity partner for 2025

BT Digital Belfast, an arm of BT Group who are responsible for leading BT’s digital transformation, have nominated Cancer Focus Northern Ireland as their charity partner for 2025. Every year staff play an important role in choosing the selected charity they will raise essential funds for, and with 1 in 2 people likely to be diagnosed with cancer in Northern Ireland, it is no surprise that a local cancer charity has struck a chord with many of the team at BT Digital Belfast.

Ryan Bowman, Software Engineer Graduate & Committee Chair of BFSEC said: “Within BT Digital we have the Belfast Social Events Committee (BFSEC) and each year we pick a local charity to partner with for the year ahead. This year we are delighted to have chosen Cancer Focus NI. We are looking forward to raising as much funds as possible through many events throughout the year. Choosing a local charity is close to everyone’s heart within BT Digital as we feel like we are making a real difference here at home.”

The BT Digital workforce have got a great year of fundraising ahead as they plan to host a wide range of events, including the highly anticipated BT Digital Christmas Party which has raised phenomenal funds for many charities for the past number of years.

Throughout the partnership, their aim is not only to raise vital funds for the charity but also to support the charity’s mission to raise awareness of cancer in the workplace.

As part of the partnership, Cancer Focus NI will be providing information and wellbeing days including stop smoking stands, care in the sun clinics, healthy breakfasts and a visit from our Keeping Well Van to offer employees at BT Digital Belfast the chance to take steps to lower their risk of cancer.

Meg McKeown, Corporate Fundraising Officer at Cancer Focus NI, said: “We are over the moon to be working with and supporting the BT Digital Belfast team as they start planning their year of exciting monthly fundraising events. We must raise £4.6 million each year to sustain our cancer support services in local communities and we are incredibly grateful to the BT Digital Belfast team for their commitment and supporting our mission throughout 2025.”

The charity is entering an exciting new chapter of bringing specialist cancer support to towns and cities across Northern Ireland as they plan to open five Therapeutic Cancer Support Centres over the next 5-7 years, with the first Support Centre opening in Enniskillen in May 2025. Businesses will play a huge role in the charity’s strategic direction over the coming months and years by ensuring the delivery and sustainability of the Centres.
