Popular radio presenter and fashion icon opens newest charity retail shop on Bangor’s High Street

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland are on the move in Bangor with an exciting change of location to a prime spot on the high street. Relocating to 68 Main Street, this popular retail space will no doubt prove to be a welcome addition to local shoppers in the North Down area and beyond.

The organisation already has 13 stores across Northern Ireland which provide a vital revenue stream for the charity and are managed by their dedicated team of staff and volunteers from across the country. The Bangor shop is the fourth to undergo a successful revamp since the cancer charity launched its new strategy in 2023 and ties closely with the charity’s vision of supporting local people on their cancer journey.

Local Cool FM presenter and longtime Cancer Focus NI ambassador, Rebecca McKinney officially opened the shop and speaks to the palpable excitement felt in the town.

Rebecca said: “I am delighted to celebrate the new store opening in Bangor. Having had the opportunity to visit, support, and host events at many of the charity’s shops across the country myself, the new aesthetic and feel of the stores are really impressive. More than just a charity shop, the new stores are welcoming places to visit and shop some high street and designer pieces, along with having the opportunity to chat with staff and volunteers about the organisation and the services they offer.”

Along with being an ethical way to shop and recycle preloved clothes, the stores provide a vital income stream for the charity, enabling them to deliver cancer support services to thousands of people and families each year.

Angela McGrath, Director of Retail at Cancer Focus NI said: “Our latest move to a stunning new retail space in Bangor marks an exciting time for our organisation, as we continue to modernise our retail network to better serve our customers and supporters. The support we receive from our local community continues to blow us away, and we simply wouldn’t be able to deliver on our ambitious plans and continue to support local people and families navigating a cancer diagnosis without their generosity. I invite people to call in and say hello to our staff and volunteers and pick up a bargain.”

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland’s Bangor retail store address is 68 Main Street, Bangor BT20 5AA.
