Cancer Focus Northern Ireland releases their Manifesto for the 2024 UK General Election
Cancer Focus Northern Ireland releases today their manifesto for the 2024 UK General Election. It features 15 measures that, if implemented, could help prevent cancers, reduce health inequalities, and improve health outcomes and patient care. The manifesto is a call for MP candidates and political parties to mobilise to address cancer, through their activities at every level of government.
“With one 1 in 2 of us projected to face a cancer diagnosis within our lifetimes, we need investments in health and multi-year budgets to deliver on cancer priorities and needed transformations,” comments Richard Spratt, Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Focus Northern Ireland. “At the same time, health departments do not deliver health objectives alone. From infrastructure for UV protection to education on healthy habits and volunteer support groups, we all need to do our part to help realise a healthier society. With this manifesto, we outline some of the key steps our government could take to better prevent and address cancers.”
The manifesto is available here.
Cancer Focus NI calls on all MPs and political parties to adopt and commit to the measures outlined in this manifesto. To learn more or to discuss these health priorities, please email policy@cancerfocusni.org or call +44 7776 170904.
