Conquer the Big 3 – 15-17 August 2025

The Big 3: Irish Mountain Trek, is one for the bucket list as we welcome 30 lucky trekkers to conquer the towering peaks of Carrauntoohil in Munster, Lugnaquilla in Leinster, and Slieve Donard in Ulster, all in the span of one unforgettable weekend.

 

What’s included?

Transport, Information Evening, 2 x Overnight Hotel Stays (Twin-Share Room, Dinner & Breakfast), Daily Refreshments / Snacks, Mountain Guides will travel with group for duration of challenge, Exclusive Jersey and Medal, Bespoke Event Pack, Finisher Gifts, and Fundraising Support.

 

Payment Plans & Fundraising Support:

Event registration fee is £50.
The sponsorship target is £950 but don’t worry, hitting this is easier than you think.

Outdoor Events Manager, James Barbour, will be on hand at every step of the way to offer one-to-one fundraising support and payment advice.

    Now more than ever, we need you to get involved and help support local people affected by cancer.

    Together, our 30 Big 3 Trekkers have the potential to raise over £30k, which will go towards supplying out vital services to patients and families across NI.

    We need to raise almost £4 million each year to fund our life-changing services and we rely primarily on your generosity to help us to continue this vital work in the community.

Big 3 FAQ’s

Who can take part?
Participants will need a high level of fitness and experience walking in mountainous terrain.

Please note this event is for over 18s only and participants must purchase their own travel insurance cover.

What if I can’t raise the £950 sponsorship?
Did you know that hosting a bake sale at work could help you raise £300-£500?
Our Fundraising team will be on hand to fully support you to achieve your sponsorship target with handy hints, advice, support, and supplies.

What is the route?

  • Carrauntuohill 1038m (Highest in Munster) – Friday 15th August
  • Lugnaquilla 925m (Highest in Leinster) – Saturday 16th August
  • Slieve Donard 850m (Highest in Ulster) – Sunday 17th August

What is the itinerary?

  • Day 1 – Private Coach leaves 5am from Newcastle (Co.Down) to hike Carrauntuohill (6-8Hr Hike) – Stay overnight in Killarney (Killarney Hotel)
  • Day 2 – Travel from Killarney to hike Lugnaquilla (6-8Hr Hike) – Stay overnight in Wicklow (Woodenbridge Hotel)
  • Day 3 – Travel from Wicklow to hike Slieve Donard (3-4Hr Hike) – End of event.
