Kingspan Water and Energy select Cancer Focus Northern Ireland as their new charity partner
Kingspan Water + Energy, who design, manufacture, monitor and service trusted sustainable water and safe storage solutions for homes and businesses worldwide, announce Cancer Focus Northern Ireland as their new charity partner after a staff vote. For the next two years, the staff at both Portadown and Newry sites will work hand in hand to organise company-wide fundraisers to ensure that the 1 in 2 people likely to be diagnosed in Northern Ireland are supported at every stage of their cancer journey.
Fundraising is already off to a splashing start as the staff at Kingspan demonstrated the power of community within the workplace by entering a team to the charity’s Corporate Dragon Boat Race. The team-building day out was the perfect inaugural event for the employees to learn more about the charity while also putting their best paddle forwards for Cancer Focus NI’s mission. The staff are now keen to take on more challenges to raise vital funds to support local people facing cancer in Northern Ireland.
Jessica Lightbody, Chair of the Voice of the Employee Committee said:
“We’re incredibly proud to team up with Cancer Focus Northern Ireland, a brilliant local charity doing life-changing work for cancer patients and their families. Cancer has touched so many of our lives, whether personally or through someone we love, which makes this partnership especially meaningful to us. Together, we’re hoping to listen, learn, and lend our support to those impacted and to play a small part in supporting the ongoing journey of vital care, life-changing research, healing, and providing hope to so many going through their toughest battles. We’re honoured to be part of this journey.”
As well as fundraising, the staff at Kingspan are making a commitment to employee health and wellbeing by spreading important cancer awareness in the workplace. As part of the collaboration, Cancer Focus NI will be providing information and wellbeing days including stop smoking stands, care in the sun clinics, and a visit from our Keeping Well Van to offer employees the chance to take steps to lower their risk of cancer.
Meg McKeown, Corporate Fundraising Officer beamed:
“This new partnership for the charity comes at an exciting time as we have just opened the doors to our very first Therapeutic Support Centre in Enniskillen. With more planned for the coming years, we would like to thank the staff at Kingspan for joining us on this new journey of cancer care in Northern Ireland.”
The charity’s new strategic direction will see Therapeutic Support Centres opening over the next 5-7 years, bringing their cancer support services directly to towns and cities across the country. Businesses will play a huge role over the coming months and years by ensuring the delivery and sustainability of the Centres.
