Prostate Cancer

Need help with your cancer journey?

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, they may experience feelings of shock, anger, or confusion. Even the most supportive family members, friends, or employers cannot understand exactly how it feels to go through a cancer journey.

A cancer support group is one way for individuals to interact with other people in similar circumstances.

What to expect?

This group provides a safe and welcoming space for men to get to know each other and receive the support they need. The meetings are social and informative and enable members to live more positively and confidently with their diagnosis.

Support provided:
• Peer encouragement
• Reduced social isolation
• Information about cancer services and treatment
• Fun and friendship

Two men sitting on a bench in North Shields on the banks of the river tyne sharing and recounting funny stories of their youth together whilst sharing the flask of hot drink with each other.

“Sharing your story in a safe space with others in similar circumstances can help a man with prostate cancer to process emotions around their diagnosis and treatment.”

Caroline Hart, Group Work Coordinator
