Cancer Focus NI responds to Smokefree Generation Consultation

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland has responded to the Consultation on a Smokefree Generation, an eight-week, UK-wide consultation on tobacco and vaping. The consultation represents an opportunity to help protect future generations from the harms of tobacco and to increase regulations on vaping devices.

Smoking is the single most entirely preventable cause of ill-health, disability, and death in the UK. In Northern Ireland, it is responsible for approximately 35,000 hospital admissions and 2,200 deaths each year. In light of these harms, the charity welcomed the opportunity to consult on these important questions.
