The Big 3 – Irish Mountain Trek Challenge – 23-25 August

Conquer the Big 3 – 23-25 August 2024

Take on the challenge of the Cancer Focus NI – The Big 3 – Irish Trek Mountain Challenge to raise money for local people affected by cancer. The tough challenge will involve climbing the 3 highest peaks in Munster, Leinster and Ulster across a weekend.

This event is extremely limited with only 30 brave hikers able to take on this once in a lifetime challenge!

Event registration fee is £250 and minimum sponsorship is £1500 

(Please note registration fee of £250 can be split into 3 instalments – see below) 

 

What’s included? –

Transport, Information Evening, 2 x Overnight Hotel Stays (Twin-Share Room, Dinner & Breakfast), Daily Refreshments / Snacks, Mountain Guides will travel with group for duration of challenge, Medal, Bespoke Event Pack, Finisher Gifts, Fundraising support.

  • Participants will need a high level of fitness and experience walking in mountainous terrain.

    The route will follow these mountains in the order listed:

    – Carrauntuohill 1038m (Highest in Munster) – Friday 23rd August
    – Lugnaquilla 925m (Highest in Leinster) – Saturday 24th August
    – Slieve Donard 850m (Highest in Ulster) – Sunday 25th August

     

    Day 1 – Private Coach leaves 5am from Newcastle (Co.Down) to hike Carrauntuohill (6-8Hr Hike) – Stay overnight in Killarney (Towers Hotel)

    Day 2 – Travel from Killarney to hike Lugnaquilla (6-8Hr Hike) – Stay overnight in Wicklow (Woodenbridge Hotel)

    Day 3 – Travel from Wicklow to hike Slieve Donard (3-4Hr Hike) – End of event.
